Chemical Company Strengthens Regulatory Compliance Through Document Management
Stonebridge provided custom application development and implementation services to facilitate, streamline, and optimize a chemical company’s migration to a new document management system housing more than 200,000 documents related to the company’s ISO 9000 certification and OSHA Process Safety Management compliance. The documents include written work procedures, chemical plant equipment folders, and plant engineering drawings.
Given the rules and regulations governing the chemicals industry, our client needed to ensure a smooth transition to its new document management system. However, it wanted to retain specific functionality from its former system not support by the new as well as develop additional functionality it required.
To meet the client’s document management requirements, Stonebridge provided custom application development to the new system, which is based on a third-party software vendor's collaboration and knowledge management software. Custom features included:
- An auditing feature to track end-user activity
- A workflow capability to monitor and regulate the publishing of documents
- A “required reading” functionality that automatically tracks and records when users have accessed and read a revised document
- A dynamic search capability to enable users to conduct searches by multiple attributes in addition to the core ECM application’s native full-text search
