Energy Services Company Enhances Supply Chain Management Via Global B2B Portal
Stonebridge worked with an energy services provider to create a B2B portal that retrieves and synchronizes data from the client’s worldwide supply chain management operations into a global accessible data warehouse.
Our client, which provides logistical support for O&G companies such as Exxon, BP, and Marathon, acts as a supply-chain manager in the global OCTG (oil country tubular goods) industry by facilitating business between buyers and sellers of tubing and casing used to build oil wells. Because its customers rely on it to find the right suppliers, the company wanted to improve its service by Web-enabling the process and providing a secure information portal.
Stonebridge architected and developed a Web-enabled B2B portal that enables the client to provide global online access to supply-chain data for its clients. The solution runs on an Oracle 8i database and uses Oracle’s Internet Application Services (IAS) e-business applications, with additional functionality from Oracle’s Web database. The Web front end runs on Microsoft IIS. The OS platform comprises Microsoft NT Servers, and Cognos PowerPlay Server is utilized for business intelligence and data analysis.
The Web portal provides the client’s customers with immediate online access to specific information such as inventory forecasts, materials quotes, order status, invoicing data, and credit status of unused materials. It also allows customers to perform forecasting and analysis based on purchase history.
