Stonebridge Database Services consultants provide you with decades of DBA experience, with expert skills in Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL running on platforms from Windows to Unix/Linux. The following project summaries provide you with a view of our approach to solving these challenges.
Major Power Company – ERCOT-Mandated Database Modifications
Stonebridge implemented ERCOT-mandated database changes for a major U.S. power company. The changes to the company’s Oracle database environment addressed modifications to marketing points within the electricity grid. The company provides electricity to customers and communities in 18 states in the U.S. In conjunction with implementing changes at the database level, Stonebridge led a server re-architecture effort to port the Oracle databases from a Sun Solaris platform to a new IBM platform. Stonebridge was selected as the hardware supplier for the initiative, which comprised four System p servers.
Energy Company – SmartSource Database Managed Services
A large energy company engaged Stonebridge to provide SmartSource Database Services. The client had struggled for years with database support issues ranging from frequent failures and outages to project cost overruns and missed objectives. It first attempted to solve the problems in-house and later through a full-scale outsourcing arrangement, after which it elected to take the SmartSource SLA-driven managed services approach. Stonebridge provides core database support at a fixed monthly fee and focuses on meeting client-defined reliability and availability service levels for select critical business applications. According to the company’s IT director, the Stonebridge DBA team has set and maintained performance levels previously unachieved.
Energy Company – Database Assessment
Stonebridge conducted a high-level assessment of an energy company’s database environment capabilities. The assessment scope comprised approximately 20 Oracle databases and 50 SQL Server databases. The findings helped the client establish a baseline understanding of its current operating environment and provide a quantitative measure of its current operational maturity, which can aid in evaluating areas of risk as it relates to the reliability and maintainability of the environment. At the time of the assessment, the client employed one full-time DBA and one developer doing some backup DBA work as well as writing SQL for business reporting purposes. Based on the detailed assessment, the client engaged Stonebridge in a SmartSource Database Services arrangement.
