Permian-Focused Operator Selects Stonebridge to Orchestrate Operational Transformation

TULSA, Okla., Aug. 8, 2018 – Stonebridge Consulting has been selected by a fast-growing operator to lead a corporate-wide business transformation initiative focused on standardizing the operator’s core operations, from the field to the back office to the C-suite.

The initiative, which centers on process optimization and data management best practices, is expected to drive incremental cost savings and productivity gains approaching $10 million over five years.

Stonebridge’s client is an independent oil and natural gas company focused on the Permian Basin. The privately held company is growing organically through the drill bit and strategic acquisition of high-quality Permian assets.

The company selected Stonebridge to help achieve the defined objectives of its business transformation strategy, including:

  • IT portfolio planning for the next three years
  • Scalable planning, budgeting and scheduling processes and systems
  • Optimized land and authority for expenditure (AFE) processes for efficient collaboration and integration between departments
  • Future-ready well data management processes and systems
  • Streamlined facilities management processes and systems
  • Establish cost-cutting measures across the organization with key performance metrics for ongoing cost improvements
  • Dashboard reports for consistent reporting at all levels, including AFE, lease operating statements (LOS), production, lease preservation and executive management

Stonebridge will deliver a wide range of advisory and technology services to optimize processes, business reporting and supporting IT systems throughout the well life cycle, financial planning, budgeting and scheduling (Actenum and ARIES); well setup and maintenance (WellView); lease maintenance (BOLO Land); AFE/invoicing; surface operations (SiteView); vendor management; and dashboard reporting (EnerHub). Additionally, Stonebridge will oversee software selection and vendor negotiations.

To deliver the project, Stonebridge will utilize its deep expertise in upstream operations, direct experience in upstream business processes, knowledge of commercial upstream software and familiarity of the Permian resource play. Stonebridge consultants will draw on their project experience in process optimization and data management and leverage proprietary tools and accelerators. Specifically, Stonebridge will use the EnerHub Data Quality and Master Data Management modules and the “Peloton Ready” process, data and reporting accelerators, specifically its Site Ready℠ for SiteView user profiles addressing facility management, regulatory, construction and water management activities.

Stonebridge Managing Director Kate Stevenson said, “We are extremely pleased to be entrusted to lead this mission-critical program. Our client has a strong track record of success based on responding proactively to opportunities that give them a competitive advantage. Their leadership understands at this stage of their growth, the surest way for continued success is to optimize their business processes and refine their data management strategy—which is the key underlying goal of this initiative. Our mission is to ensure they lay a solid foundation for the total digital transformation of their business, from the field to the C-suite.”

The new agreement follows a five-week data management assessment performed by Stonebridge to analyze the operator’s enterprise information strategy and existing systems, and identify areas for improvement in business processes, inter-departmental collaboration, system configuration, and data quality and integration. The assessment also included peer analysis comparing the operator’s data management maturity level with like-sized upstream companies.

The assessment put a spotlight on data management issues common to high-growth operators. Well master data is entered into multiple operational and line-of-business systems. Data flows are manual, with no business rules or quality checks to ensure data is consistent across systems throughout the well life cycle. Acquisitions have resulted in multiple systems for the same function, such as SCADA and GIS.

“Rapid growth puts tremendous strain on operations,” Stevenson said. “Stonebridge’s end-to-end delivery capabilities—from assessing the organization and providing recommendations and a strategic roadmap, to executing the plan and delivering the recommended solution, to providing post-project managed services—offer high-growth companies a roadmap for scaling their operations for future growth.”
