Stonebridge Selects HP Veteran as New Chief Executive
Stonebridge announces appointment of James W. Sherriff, former HP Vice President, Professional Services, as CEO
DALLAS, Texas, January 4, 1999 – Stonebridge Technologies, Inc., a leading regional solutions integrator, today announced that James W. Sherriff has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, Sherriff will be responsible for developing and implementing growth strategies that will help Stonebridge move rapidly toward its goal of expanding a strong regional presence into a national solutions integration services company.
Prior to joining Stonebridge, Sherriff spent his entire 19-year professional career at the Hewlett-Packard Company, beginning as a systems sales consultant immediately after earning his bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of California, Irvine. He rose quickly through the ranks at HP, holding various sales and sales management positions, before moving into professional services as the Asia Pacific Professional Services General Manager based in Hong Kong in 1993. Sherriff and his team were able to grow the professional services business in Asia at an annual rate of over 45% during his three-year tenure, and subsequently he was promoted to the position of Vice President and General Manager, HP Consulting, Worldwide. In that role, Sherriff engineered what is considered to be one of the most radical reorganizations in Hewlett-Packard's history, leading to the successful transformation of HP's professional services business and a top ranking for HP in a recent InformationWeek survey of major IT service providers.
